The Bannerghatta police on Saturday a 24-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly murdering his 70-year-old grandmother after months of disputes over his unemployment and future, police said.
The accused,identified as Prajwal,a resident of KS Layout,allegedly killed his grandmother,Gowramma,at her house in Kenchagoravayanadoddi near Bannerghatta,where he had been staying to look after her while her husband was away on work.
According to investigators,Gowramma had repeatedly urged Prajwal,a college dropout,to find a stable job and become more responsible.Police said the discussions frequently turned into arguments.
On Tuesday night,Gowramma is said to have once again spoken to Prajwal about his future before retiring to bed.
Police allege that around 2 am, he took a kitchen knife and fatally attacked her while she was asleep.
After the incident,Prajwal allegedly returned to his home in KS Layout,confessed the crime to his mother,and fled.
He was later traced to a hideout near Bannerghatta and arrested on Wednesday.Police have registered a murder case for further investigation.
