A 12-year-old Class 5 student died after collapsing inside his classroom at a private school in south Bengaluru, with the incident coming to light more than a month later after his family reviewed CCTV footage and alleged serious negligence by the school staff.

The deceased has been identified as Arhan Pasha (12), a Class 5 student of New Blossom School in Vivers Colony on Bannerghatta Road.

According to the family, the incident occurred on June 10.They initially believed the child had died due to natural causes.

However, after obtaining and reviewing the school’s CCTV footage two days ago, they alleged that school authorities failed to respond promptly despite the boy showing signs of distress.

The CCTV footage reportedly shows Arhan informing his teacher that he was feeling unwell before returning to the classroom.Moments later,he allegedly collapsed onto his bench.

The family alleged that instead of immediately shifting him to a hospital, school staff moved the unconscious boy from one room to another and kept him inside the school premises for nearly 45 minutes before informing his parents.

By the time the parents rushed to the school, Arhan had allegedly already died.

The family further claimed that the school did not provide its vehicle to shift the child to a hospital, forcing them to take him on a motorcycle.Doctors later declared that the boy had already passed away.

The family has accused the school management of gross negligence, alleging that timely medical intervention could have saved the child’s life.

A case of Unnatural Death Report (UDR) has been registered at the Konanakunte Police Station.Police said further action will be taken after the post-mortem report is received.
