An M.Tech final-year student has filed a police complaint alleging that a private recruitment firm cheated him and several other job seekers by collecting money on the false promise of securing jobs in leading companies.
The complainant,Prabhudev G.(26),a final-year M.Tech student at University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering (UVCE),said he was contacted on July 3 by a woman from mobile number 9742915815,claiming to represent Infosquare Global Solutions Private Limited.
Based on the complaint,the HAL police on Saturday registered an FIR against the firm and initiated a probe against the accused of running the scam for nearly three years.
According to the complaint,the caller told him that vacancies were available for Mechanical Design Engineers in reputed companies and asked him to attend an interview at the company’s office in Marathahalli on July 4.
She also sent him a Google Form and a PDF document in the name of Versent Technologies through WhatsApp, which he was asked to complete before the interview.
At the office,a man identifying himself as Pawan Gopal, the director of Infosquare Global Solutions Pvt.Ltd., allegedly collected the complainant’s resume and informed him that he would have to pay either Rs.1,000 or Rs.2,000 to appear for a written examination and be considered for placement in multiple companies.
He was also assured that the fee would be refunded if he failed the examination.
Believing the assurance,Prabhudev paid Rs.2,000 by scanning a QR code provided by the company and appeared for the written test along with 15 to 20 other candidates.
The company later informed him through email that he had failed the examination and asked him to appear for another test on July 11.
However,when he visited the office on the scheduled date,Pawan Gopal allegedly told him that no examination would be conducted and that the company could not provide any job.
When the complainant sought a refund of the Rs.2,000 paid,the accused allegedly refused and threatened him with consequences if he continued to demand his money.
The complainant further stated that several other candidates present at the office—including Ramya, Sanketh Deshgupta,Shilpa,Vandita,Veda,Sakshith J., Sanjana C.K.Abhishek,Mohammed Faizan,V.Gangamma and V.Shravan Kumar also claimed they had been induced to pay money on the promise of jobs in reputed companies but were neither provided employment nor refunded their fees.
Based on the complaint,police have registered a case against Pawan Gopal,Director of Infosquare Global Solutions Private Limited,for allegedly cheating multiple job seekers by collecting money on false promises of employment and intimidating those who sought refunds.
