A Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) posted at the Bengaluru Police Commissioner’s Office has been arrested who has been accused by his wife of dowry harassment, domestic violence, assault, intimidation, and misuse of influence to prevent police from registering her complaint.

The complainant,an advocate by profession, approached the Director General of Police (DGP)on Monday seeking action against her husband, identified as PSI Bairappa.

She alleged that despite approaching Kengeri Police Station, her complaint was not registered as an FIR and was instead reduced to an NCR (Non-Cognizable Report).

According to the wife, the couple married five years ago and have a three-year-old daughter. She claimed the first three years of their marriage were peaceful, but her husband later began demanding Rs.50 lakh from her parental family, allegedly to help him after he was suspended in a Lokayukta trap case.

She further alleged that he frequently assaulted and harassed her for dowry, forced her and their child out of the house, suspected her character, and even denied the paternity of their daughter.

The woman also accused the PSI of bringing other women to their residence, maintaining inappropriate relationships with women he met through Instagram, and sending them romantic messages despite being married.

She claimed some of these women later contacted her and shared screenshots of their conversations.

In another serious allegation, she said the PSI threatened to have her killed by rowdies and would allegedly bring known criminals near their house to intimidate her.

The complainant further alleged that on July 12,during a domestic dispute, her father, who had come to pacify the situation, was allegedly attacked by the PSI with a machete.

She also accused Kengeri Police personnel of refusing to register her complaint because two of the PSI’s batchmates are posted at the station and alleged that they were shielding him.

Seeking departmental and legal action, the woman has now submitted a complaint to the DGP,requesting an impartial investigation against the PSI as well as action against the police officials who allegedly failed to register her complaint.

Acting on the complaint DCP Southwest, Anitha B Haddanavar told reporters based on complaint an FIR has been arrested and the accused PSI has been arrested by Kengeri police and further investigation is on she added.
