Greater Bengaluru Development Minister,Krishna Byre Gowda today directed the contractor executing the Wind Tunnel Underpass project to deploy additional manpower and accelerate the pace of construction to ensure timely completion of the project.
The Minister inspected the ongoing works at the Wind Tunnel Junction,located near the U.R.Rao Satellite Centre on Old Airport Road in the jurisdiction of the Bengaluru Central City Corporation.

During the inspection,he instructed the contractor to strengthen the workforce and expedite execution so that the project is completed at the earliest.
The Minister noted that all utility relocation works associated with the underpass—including the shifting of BWSSB water pipelines,underground sewer lines, BESCOM power cables,OFC cables and other utilities—have been completed.
With the retaining wall construction currently in progress, he directed officials to further accelerate the work and ensure that the entire project is completed within three months.
*Traffic Movement to Continue Without Disruption:
Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao said that construction is being carried out in a manner that minimises inconvenience to commuters.
He added that temporary roads will be constructed at the earliest on land belonging to the Defence establishment,ISRO,National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL) and certain private properties on both sides of the junction to facilitate uninterrupted traffic movement during the construction period.
*75% of the Project Completed;
The Rs.19-crore underpass project comprises a 300-metre-long, four-lane underpass, with a width of 7.5 metres on either side.
Approximately 75% of the project has been completed, including utility relocation, construction of RCC retaining walls, service roads and fabrication of the box structures that will be installed at the central section of the underpass.
*Next Phase of Construction:
With the utility shifting works now complete and retaining wall construction underway, the next stage will involve installation of the pre-fabricated box structures at the centre of the underpass.The project will conclude with the construction of the service roads.
The inspection was attended by Central City Corporation Commissioner,Venkata Chalapathi,Chief Engineer,Vijay Kumar Haridas,Hemalatha,and other senior officials.
