Road rage incidents on the Bengaluru–Mysuru National Highway are raising serious concerns over public safety.

Days after the high-profile truck firing case allegedly involving the son of an influential person and his associates, another shocking incident has come to light in which a family was brutally assaulted by a gang on the Maddur flyover.

The incident occurred on the night of July 5 and was reportedly triggered by a minor dispute over overtaking.

The entire attack was captured on the dashcam of a car travelling behind the victims.

Senior officer told reporters that Sagar,a Bengaluru resident, was returning from Mysuru to Bengaluru with his wife, children and mother when an argument broke out with a group travelling in two cars on the service road near Srirangapatna over overtaking.

Although Sagar’s family drove away from the spot, the gang allegedly chased their vehicle.Upon reaching the Maddur Expressway flyover, the assailants intercepted the family’s car in a dramatic manner, forced it to stop and launched a violent assault.

The attackers allegedly struck Sagar on the head with a jack rod, causing serious injuries.Despite repeated pleas from his wife and mother, the gang allegedly continued the assault.

In a particularly disturbing act,the gang allegedly twisted the arm of Sagar’s eight-year-old son, who tried to protect his father and pleaded with the attackers to stop.

After receiving information about the incident,Maddur police rushed to the spot, rescued the family and brought the situation under control.

The injured victims are undergoing treatment, and a case has been registered at the Maddur Police Station against the accused.

The incident has once again raised alarm over a series of violent crimes being reported along the Bengaluru–Mysuru Expressway, prompting concerns about the safety of motorists travelling on the highway.
