Officials of the Karnataka Lokayukta Police successfully trapped and arrested an accountant attached to the Accountant General Office in Bengaluru while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs.13,000 from a complainant on Wednesday.
The accused has been identified as Adarsha Kumar Singh,an Accountant at the Accountant General Office on Park House Road,Ambedkar Veedhi,Bengaluru.
According to Lokayukta officials, the complainant, N.
Ramesh of Peenya,had approached the agency alleging that the accused demanded a bribe to facilitate the release of Rs.13.90 lakh,which had been deposited in connection with O.S. No.1912/2014 before the Principal Senior Civil Judge Court, Bengaluru Rural, as per a court order.
Based on the complaint,the Lokayukta Police registered a case under Section 7(a) of the Prevention of Corruption Act,1988,as amended in 2018.
During the inquiry,the accused allegedly demanded Rs.16,000 and later agreed to accept Rs.13,000.
Acting on the complaint,a trap was laid under the supervision of Shiva Prakash Devaraju,IPS, Superintendent of Police,Karnataka Lokayukta, Bengaluru City-1.The accused was caught red-handed while allegedly accepting the bribe amount of Rs.13,000.
