Two young men were killed and two others sustained serious injuries after a speeding Tata Ace vehicle veered out of control and rammed into pedestrians standing in front of a roadside shop near Bairenahalli Cross in Koratagere taluk on Sunday.
The deceased have been identified as Naveen Kumar (21) and Nakul (21),both residents of Bairenahalli village.
Naveen Kumar died on the spot,while Nakul succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at a hospital.
The injured,identified as Bhagyamma(50)and Ramakrishnaiah (55),were rushed to a hospital and are reported to be in serious condition.
According to police,the Tata Ace was travelling from the Gauribidanur side when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle and crashed into people standing near a shop along the roadside.
The driver fled the scene immediately after the accident.
Koratagere police have registered a case and launched a search for the absconding driver. Further investigation is underway.
Circle Inspector Purushotham and PSI Teerthesh visited the accident site and conducted an inspection.
