*Joint Commissioners,Chief Engineers,and Superintendent Engineers to oversee desilting works covering 50 km each under the leadership of the Additional Commissioner (Development).
*Accelerate desilting work through contractors engaged under Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMC).
Addressing a progress review meeting on various development works with officials of the Engineering Department today,Bengaluru Central City Corporation Commissioner,Rajendra Cholan instructed engineers to expedite and complete drain desilting works along roads,removal of silt accumulated in major stormwater drains,footpath development,and road asphalting works being undertaken under the Chief Minister’s Special Development Scheme and other special development projects.

*Instructions to Clear Desilted Waste Within Two Days:
The Commissioner noted that silt removed from roadside drains is often left on roads for weeks,causing inconvenience to the public and disrupting vehicle movement.
Leaving such waste uncleared on roads and footpaths also creates difficulties for pedestrians and may adversely affect public health.
Therefore,he directed officials to ensure that desilted drain waste is cleared within two days.
*Officers to Supervise Desilting Works Across 50 km Areas:
To ensure urgent and effective desilting of drains within the Bengaluru Central City Corporation limits, the Commissioner instructed that,under the leadership of the Additional Commissioner (Development),Joint Commissioners of both zones,Chief Engineers,and Superintendent Engineers should each take charge of approximately 50 km stretches and conduct field inspections.
*Speed Up Work Through AMC Contractors:
The Commissioner also instructed engineers to ensure that contractors engaged under Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMC) for maintaining major stormwater drains and roadside drains take up desilting works urgently and complete them promptly.
The meeting was attended by Additional Commissioner (Development),Venkatachalapathi,Additional Commissioner(Revenue),K.Ranganath,Joint Commissioner,Hemanth Sharan,Chief Engineer, Vijaykumar Haridas,Superintendent Engineers,Puneeth and Chandrashekhar,Executive Engineers,Assistant Executive Engineers,and other concerned officials.
