In a swift response,The Hoysala patrolling teams rescued two women in distress in separate incidents reported on Saturday.
In the first incident,personnel attached to K.R.Puram Police Station rescued a woman who allegedly attempted suicide following a domestic quarrel.
Police said a distress call was received through the Namma-112 emergency helpline around 4.14 pm regarding a home maker at Ayyappa Nagar who was under severe emotional stress and attempting to hang herself.
Acting swiftly,Hoysala-220 personnel,including Woman ASI P.Veena and HC Raghavendra,reached the spot within nine minutes and prevented the suicide attempt.
On arrival,they found that the woman locked up the house from inside,under severe emotional stress,was attempting to hang herself.
The officers immediately intervened,prevented the suicide attempt,counselled the woman,provided emotional support and reassurance,and also advised her husband.
The officers later counselled the woman and her husband and helped defuse the tense situation.
In another incident,personnel attached to Tilaknagar Police Station rescued an elderly woman who was found unconscious on a roadside at D.K.Nayaka Nagar in Jayanagar 5th Block around 8.38 am.
Following an alert through Namma-112,Hoysala-208 staff,including ASI,Lakshman Rathod and Police Constable Kiran,rushed to the spot within eight minutes and shifted the woman to safety.
The woman was later identified as 65-year-old Sharadamma.As she had no caretaker,police admitted her to Air Humanitarian Home at Bannerghatta for care and shelter.
Police said the incidents underline the role of emergency patrolling teams in providing timely assistance and humanitarian support to people in distress.
