Gold Theft From Minister Zameer Ahmed’s Residence; Relative among two held for Rs.1.13 crore house Theft ,759g gold recovered

The Shivajinagar Police have arrested two persons, including a relative of Karnataka Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan’s family,in connection with a house theft case and recovered 759 grams of gold jewellery worth Rs.1.13 crore.

The case was registered on April 15, 2026,following a complaint by a mother of Zameer Khan,residing on Station Road.

She reported that gold jewellery weighing about 1.3 kg, kept in a cupboard in her house,had gone missing.

She also stated that relatives frequently visited her home to assist her and suspected involvement of someone known.

During the investigation,police examined multiple angles and detained a relative near a college in Govindapura on April 16.

During interrogation,he confessed to committing the theft along with an accomplice.He was produced before the court on April 17 and taken into police custody for five days.

Based on his statement,police detained the second accused in Mathikere on April 19.He too confessed to his role in the crime and was taken into custody for further questioning.

Police said the accused revealed that the stolen jewellery had been pledged at jewellery shops in Mathikere and Kammagondanahalli.

Acting on the information,officers recovered 759 grams of gold jewellery from a shop in Mathikere on April 20. The recovered property is valued at Rs.1.13 crore.

Investigations revealed that the prime accused, identified as Syed Ameer,is a relative of the minister’s mother.His associate,Ameer Ahmed,was reportedly working with him in a travel business.

According to police,the accused had suffered heavy financial losses in their travel business during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a bid to recover losses and repay debts,they allegedly planned the theft at their relative’s residence.The stolen gold was pledged,and the money was intended to be invested in real estate for profit.

Both accused were later produced before the court on April 21 and April 23,respectively, and remanded to judicial custody.Further investigation is underway.
