A 24-year-old married woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances at her residence in Yelahanka New Town in north Bengaluru,and police have arrested her husband following allegations of dowry harassment and murder.
The deceased has been identified as Krithi (24), a resident of Brindavan Layout in Yelahanka New Town.
Based on a complaint filed by her family members,the Yelahanka New Town police have arrested her husband Pawan Kalyan in connection with the case.
Senior officer told reporters that,Krithi and Pawan Kalyan were married in December 2024, and the wedding was reportedly held in a grand manner.
Family members said the couple initially appeared to be leading a normal life,but within a few months disputes began to surface between them.
The incident came to light when Krithi was found dead inside the house under suspicious circumstances. While the husband and his family allegedly attempted to portray the death as a suicide,the victim’s parents have strongly alleged that she was murdered.
The family has accused Pawan Kalyan and his relatives of harassing Krithi for additional dowry soon after the marriage.
They claimed that she was repeatedly pressured to bring more money from her parental home,leading to frequent quarrels between the couple.
According to the complaint,elders from both families had earlier intervened and attempted to resolve the dispute.However, the harassment allegedly continued.
The victim’s family further alleged that Krithi was strangled to death, and later an attempt was made to pass it off as suicide.
They also claimed that injury marks were found on her neck,raising serious suspicion about the circumstances of her death.
Based on the complaint and preliminary investigation, the Yelahanka New Town Police registered a case and arrested the husband.The body has been sent for postmortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.
Police said further investigation is underway to determine the role of other family members and the exact sequence of events leading to the woman’s death.
