34-Year-Old Techie Dies Of Suffocation In her apartment in RM Nagar Bengaluru

A 34-year-old woman a Techie was killed in a fire that broke out in her apartment,allegedly due to a short circuit,in east Bengaluru late Saturday night,police said on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Sharmila,a resident of Subramanya Layout under the limits of the Ramamurthy Nagar police station.

According to officials,Sharmila was employed with a private firm in Bellandur and hailed from Dakshina Kannada district.

The fire broke out a little after 10.50 pm on Saturday.At the time of the incident,Sharmila was alone in the house as her roommate had gone to her hometown.

Neighbours,who noticed smoke billowing from the apartment, alerted the police and the fire department. Fire personnel rushed to the spot and doused the flames.

Police suspect that Sharmila died of asphyxiation after thick smoke engulfed the room where she was sleeping.

The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, and further investigation is underway.
