A newborn baby abandoned near a Shell petrol bunk at Lingarajapuram was rescued following swift action by the K.G.Halli police on Sunday .
According to the police,local residents noticed the abandoned infant around 11.38 am and immediately alerted the emergency helpline ‘Namma 112’.
The Command Centre relayed the information to the K.G. Halli Police Station,following which Hoysala-46 staff ASI N.Nagaraj and HC Gopi were dispatched to the spot.
The officers reached the location within seven minutes and conducted inquiries in the surrounding area.
However,they were unable to trace the baby’s parents or guardians.
The newborn was immediately rescued and shifted to a nearby hospital for medical examination and care.After ensuring the child’s health and safety,the infant was handed over to the concerned authorities under Banaswadi Police Station jurisdiction for further care and protection, police said.
In a similar incident,the Chandra Layout police traced and rescued a 50-year-old woman who was found sitting in a distressed condition near the police station premises on the night of Saturday .
Police said local residents noticed the woman around 10.25 pm and alerted the emergency helpline ‘Namma 112’, suspecting that she was missing or in need of assistance.
Based on the information,the Command Centre informed the Chandra Layout Police Station,and Hoysala-60 staff ASI Shanthakumar and HC Umesh M.S. rushed to the spot,reaching within 12 minutes.
Though the officers attempted to question the woman, she was unresponsive.Following standard operating procedures,the police ensured her safety and later handed her over to the Asare Foundation for further care and rehabilitation.
