The Banashankari police have registered an FIR against three individuals—Sneh Rakesh,Rajat Venkatesh,and Robin Francis—following a complaint by an NRI who alleged he was cheated of Rs.17.50 crore.
Senior officer said Rajat Venkatesh is the son of Venkatesh,a long-time friend of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
The complainant,Tejasvi Mariyappa,an NRI who owns a building in Banashankari,alleged that the accused promised to purchase his property and handed over a cheque of ₹17.5 crore,which later turned out to bear a forged signature.
Tejasvi stated that he realised the fraud after the cheque bounced,and the bank informed him about the signature mismatch.The accused allegedly took the building documents under the pretext of finalising the purchase, he said.
He further said that Sneh Rakesh and Rajat Venkatesh are directors of Akramax Tech Pvt.Ltd.The complainant further claimed the accused used their photographs with VIPs and mentioned the Chief Minister’s name to win his trust.
Investigators said the accused are reportedly seen with several high-profile individuals including politicians and foreign businessmen at public events, though there is no allegation of involvement against any political leader.
An FIR has been filed under cheating and forgery charges, and the Banashankari police have begun an investigation.Police sources said the accused were previously named in other cheating cases as well.
Further investigation is in progress.
