Armed man hacked a 40-year-old businessman to death while he was alone at his house in Anekal on Tuesday.
The deceased identified as Madesh,a resident of Kachanayakanahalli and a native of Barandur near Denkanikottai in Tamilnadu.
Senior officer told reporters that Madesh was alone at home when the assailants barged in armed with a knife and an air gun,attacked him with weapons,slit his throat before fleeing the spot .
Few residents hearing the commotion came to the rescue and tried to stop them, but the accused assaulted them and managed to flee .
Upon receiving the alert,Hebbagodi police rushed to the spot and recovered an air gun,knife,metal detector,torch, helmet,and a bag left behind by the accused.Fingerprint experts and a dog squad were pressed into service to assist in the investigation.
The police received a call on emergency number 112 reporting that a man had been murdered by having his throat slit.
A neighbour witnessed the attack and tried to stop the suspect, but he escaped after assaulting him.We found Rs.2 lakh in cash in the house which was left untouched.”
Police said Madesh had been residing in Bengaluru for the past 15 years,running a cigarette distribution business and a provision store and also owned a hotel .
He was reportedly building a new house using the proceeds from the sale of his ancestral property in Tamilnadu.His family members were working at the hotel leaving Madesh at home as he was unwell .
Recently,Madesh had developed gangrene in his leg and was mostly confined to his home.Police suspect the assailant was known to the victim.Three special teams led by ACP Satish have been formed to trace and arrest the accused.
