Home alone toddler burnt alive after suspected short circuit triggers fire

A one-and-half year old girl charred to death while sleeping at the room situated in the basement of a residential apartment cunningham road on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Anu,only daughter of Pushkar Kumar,25 and Jyothi Kumari,22.

The couple hailed from Nepal and working in the apartment as security guard and domestic help for the last eight years and living in the room situated at the basement of the apartment .

Senior officer told reporters that the couple locked Anu, in the room,while she was sleeping and went to work . They returned at around 6 pm and noticed the room was filled with smoke .

They forced opened the door and found their daughter died of burns while sleeping.As the fire came out of the room Other residents in the apartment panic and came out of the house and found the baby burnt alive in the room and alerted the fire and emergency services.

The High ground fire tender rushed the spot and douse the fire.The child body was sent to post mortem.The police added an unnatural death report case will be filed and probe if there is any foul play .

The police rushed to the spot and conducted a spot inspection before shifting the body for post-mortem.

The police suspect that the fire was sue to electric short circuit.The blanket the girl was covered caught fire and burnt .

The police have taken up a case of un-natural death and investigating .
