A 23-year-old newly married woman was killed and her husband injured when the motorcycle the couple were riding was knocked down by a speeding a truck near Laggere bridge on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Geetha,a resident of Malleshwaram,married to Sunil,a private firm employee,three months ago .
The couple was heading to their relative house to visit on the occasion of Varamahalakshmi Festival .
The bike lost control near Laggere bridge and the duo slipped on the road and Geetha came under the moving truck and killed on the spot.The driver abandoned the truck and escaped .
Sunil who fell on the safer side escaped with minor injuries.The entire incident was caught on the CCTV installed near-by.
Hearing the demise of Geetha,her grandmother fainted due to shock and exhaustion and admitted to the hospital in her native place in Channapattana.
She was admitted to the hospital and was in ICU and later succumbed.
The Rajajinagar traffic police have seized the truck and looking for the driver for further investigation.
