The Judicial Magistrate of First Class court in Tumakuru district on Tuesday convicted a shop keeper and 22 others for attacking policemen during lockdown enforcement in Covid time,sentencing them with one year simple imprisonment and a fine of Rs.15,000 each.
The accused Adeer Ahmed,owner of a grocery shop in Chikka Kunnalu circle in CS pura police station limits in Tumakuru,was running the shop during covid lock down violating the rules on July 3,2021.
The police personnel who were on rounds when confronted and questioned,the accused created ruckus and organized a mob and carried attack on the police personnel.The mob assaulted police personnel and even damaged their vehicle .
The injured police personnel were somehow alerted the control room seeking reinforcement and were rescued .
Based on the complaint by Somashekhar,PSI,the police arrested the accused and filed the charge-sheet .
The court considering the argument and witnesses , convicted the accused and also directed the authorities to pay compensation of Rs.15,000 to each police personnel who were injured in the attack .
