Establishment of Leaf Composting Units in Parks:Maheshwar Rao

*BBMP Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao has instructed officials to set up leaf composting units in all parks across the city.

As part of the “Mukhya Ayuktara Nade Valayada Kade “* initiative in the South Zone,he issued these directions while receiving public grievances at a meeting held today at the South Zone office auditorium.

He emphasized that waste generated in parks should be processed at the source through leaf composting (leaf composters) and the resulting compost should be reused in the parks.

*One Shredder per Zone:*

During the monsoon season,tree branches often fall due to heavy rains.In response,the Chief Commissioner directed that each zone be equipped with a shredder machine to process the fallen branches and debris locally.

*Curb the Menace of Stray Cattle:

Residents raised concerns about the growing menace of stray cattle,especially near Sajjan Rao Circle in VV Puram,along with an increase in the pigeon population.

The Chief Commissioner responded by directing the concerned officer to inspect the area immediately and submit a report.

*Inspection of Street Lighting:

Residents also highlighted problems related to inadequate street lighting in many parts of the South Zone. In response,the Chief Commissioner instructed that all non-functional street lights be replaced promptly. Additionally,he ordered officials to conduct night inspections and submit detailed reports.

*35 Grievances Registered:

A total of 35 public grievances were registered during the “Mukhya Ayuktara Nade Valayada Kade” program. The Chief Commissioner instructed officials to address the concerns promptly and ensure necessary resolutions.

*Key Grievances Raised by Citizens:

1.Eviction of encroachments on pedestrian pathways.

2.Request to prevent illegal constructions violating building plans.

3.Objection to installation of Ganesh idols at Acharya School Grounds in N.R.Colony due to inconvenience to local residents

4.Request to develop the park allotted in JP Nagar 2nd Phase.

5.Eviction of buildings constructed on storm water drain encroachments.

6.Repair of damaged fitness equipment in the BDA park at Avalahalli.

7.Restoration of roads damaged due to frequent digging, and filling potholes.

8.Installation of information boards at work sites to ensure transparency.

9.Removal of hazardous trees and trimming of overgrown branches.

10.Immediate initiation of essential infrastructure work ahead of the historic Kadalekai Parishe festival.

Zonal Commissioner Digvijay Bodke,Joint Commissioner Dr.Madhu,Chief Engineer,Basavaraj Kabade,Deputy Commissioner,Gagana,and Deputy Director of Horticulture Chandrashekar, along with other concerned officials, were present during the program.
