Two conmen booked for posing as e-commerce website executive lured private firm employee to refund excess amount made away with Rs.1 lakhs

Luring a private firm employee to refund the excess amount,two conmen posing as online e-commerce website delivery executives made away with one lakh on Sunday.

The victim,Prashanthi S from Mahadevapura,filed a complaint with the Whitefield cyber crime police seeking help to get back her money .

According to the complaint,she had made a online purchase of clothes and paid the amount online .

Few minutes later,she received a call from two unknown numbers identifying themselves as Dayashankar Mishra and Karan Gangsan claiming that she had made excess payment for the goods she had ordered and assured to return the money.

The duo after getting her bank account details transferred Rs.2465 and later asked her to refund Rs.611 which they had sent more money accidentally.They also told her that unless she transfer the money the delivery would not be done .

Trusting them Prashanthi transferred the money but each time the accused said that they have not received and some error .

In the process Prashathi did not realized that she had transferred a total of Rs.1 lakh to the different UPI ID shared by the accused .

The cheating came to light when the accused demanded to send more money and She checked her transactions details to realize that she had already transferred one lakh to the accused .

When she questioned the accused disconnected the calls and out of reach .

The police are now trying to track down the accused based on the mobile numbers they used to dupe the victim.

The victim said that the accused are linked to the e commerce company as they knew about her recent purchase and all the transaction details .

A police officer suggested people not to fall for such tricks and not to make any transactions without verification.
