Additional Chief Secretary to Government and Development Commissioner Smt.Uma Mahadevan has stated that the Bengaluru has been the home of citizen action,volunteerism,alternative education and we must tap into this creative energy to create an inclusive and informed response to the climate events.
Additional Chief Secretary,Urban Development Department and Administrator of BBMP Tushar Giri Nath remarked that Bengaluru took the climate change seriously and comprehensive climate action and resilience plan is published in this regard.
Climate actions need to be implemented by various departments.
He added that citizens are the strength of the city, and collective efforts are essential to address the challenges of climate change.
Chairperson of the Climate Action Cell Preeti Gehlot, emphasized the importance of collaboration not only among government departments and senior officials but also with major nongovernmental stakeholders in the city for climate resilience efforts.
She noted that the aim is to create a collaborative ecosystem through accountability and active participation with the Climate Action Cell.
She further stated that coordinated efforts between the government and citizens,guided by a shared vision and effective use of available resources, would yield impactful and sustainable outcomes.
More than 40 experts participated in the workshop and contributed valuable insights.
On this occasion Principal Secretary,Forest Department, Prabhash Chandra Ray;Managing Director of BESCOM Shivashankara,and Special Commissioner (Project) Avinash Menon Rajendran and other concerned officers were present.
