Three women sustained burn injuries and around 10,make shift houses were damaged when a roadside tree fell on the high power electric line which snapped and fell on the houses during the clearing work in Belagere labour colony on Saturday.
Many dwellers and children had a narrow escape while house hold articles and a computer and mobile repair shop was gutted .
The incident occurred at around 3.30 pm when the land owner hired a JCB to clean the land for construction purposes where the houses for the labourers were situated .
The JCB while cleaning the land pulled down a tree which fell on the high tension wire passing through the makeshift houses .
As result the live wires snapped and fell on the houses which had a tin rooftop sheets.
Luckily the transformer exploded within second and the power went off,which saved many lives.Three women who were inside the houses busy in daily chores sustained burn injuries and shifted to private hospital for treatment.The JCB driver soon after the incident sped away.
The Varthur police visited the spot and took stock of the situation.The police are waiting for the complaint to take up the case further .
The residents are vary to file a complaint fearing land owner and his associates who had rented out the premises to the migrant labourers who are from Nepal, Assam and West Bengal .
