Private Firm Employee arrested for molesting woman at ECO World tech park in Bengaluru

The Marathahalli police have arrested a 32-year-old private firm employee in connection with the sexual assault on a woman techie who was returning home late at night on April 30.

The accused,identified as Srikanth,a resident of Devarabeesanahalli,is an MBA graduate working in a private company.

Senior officer told reporters,the accused sexually harassed the victim while she was returning from work place the accused touched her inappropriately to harass her.

Initially,the victim thought it could be accidental,but the accused took a U-turn,returned and repeated the act slapped or pinched her again.

The victim raised an alarm,following which the accused escaped.

She later lodged a complaint with the Marathahalli police,based on which a case was registered against the unidentified miscreant under several sections, including stalking Sections 74 (assault against a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty) and 78 (stalking) of Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita.

The police had formed special teams to track down the accused,and the only clue available was that the accused was wearing a purple T-shirt.

The police went through almost 100 CCTV camera footage,from which they collected the vehicle registration number of the accused.

The police are probing further to ascertain the motive behind his act and whether if he was involved in similar acts earlier

In a similar incident earlier,a miscreant assaulted a woman walking home in a narrow bylane of BTM Layout on the night of April 3,and CCTV camera footage of the incident had gone viral,causing outrage.

Analysing footage from over 300 CCTV cameras and working on technical evidence, the Suddaguntepalya police had arrested a cab driver named Santosh Daniel from Kerala to where he had fled following the case 10 days later.
