The Tumakuru women police on Tuesday arrested a 26-year-old truck driver for killing his three-year-old step son in a brutal manner and cooked up a story of death due to snake bite before performing the last rites on Sunday.
The curious villagers on suspicion clicked verified the details and analyzed the facts before approaching the police.
Based on the complaint,the police arrested Chandrashekhar after a detailed questioning .
According to the police,the accused was married to Kavya after she separated from her first husband.Kavya had a son Mithun Gowda from her first husband and the child was living with her mother and step dad.
The accused always had a grudge against step son and wanted to get rid of him.On Last Thursday when Kavya went to work at the garment factory living Mithun with Chandrashekhar,he decided to kill him.
Chandrashekhar told the police that Mithun was pestering Chandrashekhar to get him ice cream.Enraged Chandrashekhar rammed his head against the wall couple of times killing him on the spot.
He later raised alarm that the snake had bite Mithun Gowda and with the help of a neighbour he took him to the near-by clinic where the doctor declared him dead.
The accused spread the news that Mithun died due to snake bite and informed Kavya and all the villagers to create an alibi and also performed a burial for Mithun Gowda.
However few villagers started doubting his behaviour and analysed the situation before confronting Chandrashekhar .
A detailed questioning led him to confess to the crime based on which the villagers alerted the police.
The police rushed to the spot arrested Chandrashekhar and exhumed the body for autopsy for further investigation.
