The Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Tuesday arrested Deputy Superintendent of Police, Kanakalakshmi,in connection with the suicide of Advocate Jeeva who ended life after accusing her of harassment and bribery in detail in her 13 page suicide note .
She was forced to disrobe,harassed and humiliated on the pretext of inquiry before demanding the bribe,the suicide note stated.
Jeeva,who was facing the probe related to the Karnataka Bhovi Corporation scam,accused Kanakalakshmi in her suicide note,that she had stripped her naked,interrogated her,and demanded a bribe of ₹ 25 lakh.
Following her suicide,Jeeva’s sister filed a complaint against CID DySP Kanakalakshmi.
DySP Kanakalakshmi was leading the inquiry and had taken 34-year-old Jeeva into custody following which Jeeva died by suicide at her residence in Padmanabhanagar,Bengaluru.
The SIT was constituted by the High Court following the application of advocates association Bengaluru.
The advocate shouted slogans and recorded Kanakalakshmi arrest soon after she was brought out of court in police escort after being produced before the court and taken to Parapaana Agrahara to be demanded for judicial custody.
