anguage of North Karnataka is close to bonding, opines Bommai
The people of North Karnataka are hard-working,and they possess the quality of adapting to everyone while retaining their identity, said former Chief Minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai.
He was speaking after inaugurating the Sankranti Suggi Festival organized by the Namma Uttara Karnataka Kshema Abhivruddhi Sangha at Yelahanka in Bengaluru today.
He said,”Sankranti is a celebration for all of us,especially in rural areas, where we worship Mother Earth and offer prayers to the oxen that are vital to farming.
The Namma Uttara Karnataka Kshema Abhivruddhi Sangha has been successful in bringing the essence of North Karnataka to Bengaluru.
The organization has done commendable work in uniting people from far-off North Karnataka. Even though you are here, your hearts are still in your hometowns”.
“Wherever you go,you should never forget your roots, your elders, and your community. If you come to Bengaluru, don’t forget North Karnataka, and if you go to Delhi, don’t forget Karnataka,”he added.
Bommai said the language of North Karnataka might sound a bit rough to Bengalureans, but it is a language close to bonding. When people from the region show respect and speak in a straightforward manner, they might ask, ‘Why is he being so blunt?’ But that’s how we are – we speak directly and truthfully.
We are not ones to use excessive embellishments, but we speak from the heart. If we have disagreements with someone, we resolve them quickly. There is no malice in our hearts.Once we express our feelings,we move on.”
“Our art, literature, and music hold a special place. Hindustani music was born on the soil of North Karnataka.
Many Jnanpith awardees hail from North Karnataka. We are primarily agriculturalists and people who live in harmony with the land.
Those connected with the soil are hardworking, honest, and optimistic. We believe in labor and reverence for Mother Earth. Every region has its unique traits–people in hilly areas are hardworking, coastal residents are daring. Life aligns with the environment we live in”, he added.
The MP said they have come to Bengaluru and successfully built their careers . Bengalureans want to hire people from North Karnataka because we easily adapt to the environment here.
A generous leader
The former CM praised Yelahanka MLA Vishwanath as a kind-hearted leader who has earned the trust of people from all communities.
He has transformed the image of Yelahanka. He reminds me of Veera Sindhoor Lakshman. May the bond between him and the association remain strong.
I have allotted three acres of land in Bengaluru for the people of North Karnataka during our tenure. We hope to start building a hostel there for students coming from North Karnataka”.
The event was attended by dignitaries including Swami Abhayanand Maharaj from Ramakrishna Vedanta Ashram, Yelahanka MLA S.R. Vishwanath, President of the Federation of North Karnataka Associations Shivakumar Meti, Yoga Guru Bhavanlal Arya, Namma Uttara Karnataka Kshema Abhivruddhi Sangha Honorary President Vishwanath Hiremath, President Shivasharanappa, and others.
