The Officials of the Forest Mobile Squad nabbed a gang of four and seized two wild bores and two deer which they were carrying in a SUV after a hot chase in the outskirts of the Ramanagara district on Friday.
Based on a tip off,a team led by Deputy Conservator of Forest,Sunitha Bai and team rushed to the area where the accused are moving suspiciously and tried to intercept the SUV.
Sensing trouble the accused tried to escape but were chased and pinned down near Chikkakuntanahalli in Ramanagara.
The accused according to the officials have been identified as Srinivasa,46,Hanumantharaju,44,and Muniraju,38 and their associate,who accompanied them to get a share of meat .
The officials along with two wild bores and two deer seized two guns including a air gun and licensed single bore weapon along with machette and knives which they were carrying in a SUV.
The accused according to the officials confessed that they are operating in the area for the last one year and confessed to have killed over 20 wild animals .
The accused said that they were into illegal hunting for personal consumption of meat and distributing it to the relatives and friends but considering the amount of killing the official suspect that it could also be due to commercial purpose .
The officials have seized the weapon and approached the local police concerned with a recommendation to cancel the license .
The officials have booked the accused under forest act and remanded them to judicial custody while investigations are to ascertain their previous hunting activities .
