Elaborate security arrangements in place for New Year celebration in Bengaluru,flyovers to be closed says Bluru Top cop

laborate security arrangements with 11,830 to guard the city including 2,572 police officers and staff, including five DCPs,18 ACPs,and 41 police inspectors, have been deployed in the Central Division,which includes Brigade Road,MG Road,Opera Junction,and Residency Road for the upcoming New Year celebrations in the city.

Briefing the media about the security arrangements,city police commissioner B.Dayananda,said that based on last year’s incidents and experience,we are improving security.

We have identified areas where people are likely to gather in large numbers,such as MG Road,Brigade Road junction,Koramangala,Indiranagar,and others.

In addition to this a total number of 817 CCTV cameras, 63 watch towers,114 women safety islands,48 police kiosks,54 health centres and 16 anti sabotage check teams have been put up in strategic locations.

The police coordinated with the other civic agencies to ensure law and order,Mr.Dayananda,said .

Similar security arrangements have also been made at the other locations including Malls and areas like Koramangala,Indiranagar,Marathahalli,old airport road, HRBR road and Whitefield with 2414 police personnel including four DCPs and 6 ACPs to monitor law and order situation.

The meetings and discussions have been held with civic body BBMP,BESCOM and BMRCL,fire and emergency services to ensure proper lighting,barricading,and operating transport service at night.

Separate meetings have been held with representatives from Ola and Uber,and pickup locations have been arranged,he added .

To prevent a stampede-like situation,a one-way pedestrian system has been implemented on MG Road and Brigade Road.

People can walk from Cauvery Emporium to Opera Junction,but not in the opposite direction.

Meanwhile the city traffic police have also announced traffic restrictions keeping in mind about a large number of people,motorists and pedestrians gather at M.G. Road,Brigade Road,Koramangala,Indiranagar 100 ft road .

Entry and parking of all types of vehicle except police and emergency vehicles have been restricted in and around CBD areas including Brigade road,MG road, Residency road,Church street,Museum road from 8 PM on December 31 to 2 AM on January 1.

The traffic police have made alternative arrangements for the vehicle moving in this area between the restricted timing.

Vehicles moving from Queen’s Circle to Halasuru and onwards on M.G.Road can take a left turn at Anil Kumble Circle and proceed towards B.R.V.Junction and take a right turn on to Cubbon Road and proceed towards MG Road near Webbs Junction.

Vehicles coming from Halasur towards Cantonment can take a right turn at Trinity Circle and proceed via Halasur Road-Dickenson Road and proceed towards Cubbon Road.

Parking of vehicles is allowed on Kamaraj Road,upto Commercial Street Junction from Cubbon Road Junction.

Public can also park their vehicles at the 1st floor parking lot of Shivajinagar B.M.T.C.Complex.

Vehicle coming from Ejipura can take right turn at India Garage and take left turn at ASC centre and move via Trinity circle,

 Vehicle coming from HAL can take right turn at ASC centre and move via Trinity circle.

Pedestrians will be allowed to walk only on Brigade Road from M.G. Road Junction towards Opera Junction.Going in the opposite direction is prohibited.

If they have to come back to M.G.Road,they can come via Residency Road-Residency cross road (Shankarnag Cinema) route.

Drivers/owners of vehicles parked on M.G.Road,Brigade Road,Rest House Road,Church Street,and Residency Road & St.Marks Road shall vacate their vehicles by 04:00 PM on 31 December,failing which,they will be prosecuted.

Consumption of alcohol or drugs and driving is being strictly dealt with under a zero tolerance policy.To identify drivers/riders engaging in drunk driving, checkpoints have been set up at various locations for thorough inspections throughout the night.

All precautionary measures have been taken to prevent any untoward incidents.

Strict action will be taken against motorcyclists who drive at high speed and recklessly and who participate in wheeling/drag racing and cause inconvenience and nuisance to other public.

If such incidents are found, information is requested to be given on the police helpline number: 112.

Vehicles parked in prohibited areas and those impeding traffic shall be liable to be towed away.

The public arriving M.G.Road and Brigade Road for the New Year celebrations, are requested to use public transport.

Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has announced extended metro services on the Purple and Green Lines to cater to New Year’s Eve celebrations on December 31.

The last trains will depart from all terminal stations at 2 a.m. on January 1, 2025, while the final train from Nadaprabhu Kempegowda metro station (Majestic) will leave at 2.40 a.m. To accommodate the festive rush, trains will operate at 10-minute intervals from 11 p.m. on December 31 until the extended service ends, according to BMRCL release.

In a bid to manage the large crowds expected on MG. Road,BMRCL has decided to close the M.G.Road metro station for entry and exit from 11 p.m.on December 31.

Passengers are advised to use the nearby Trinity and Cubbon Park metro stations instead.Those travelling after 11 p.m,can purchase a Rs.50 return journey paper ticket,which will be available at all metro stations starting at 8:00 a.m,on December 31.

Regular QR code tickets and metro cards will also remain valid for travel.
