KR Pete would be developed as a model taluk: CM Bommai

We have resolved to develop KR Pete as a model taluk in the state.Many projects have been taken up for comprehensive development of KR Pete, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said.

Speaking at function to launch a slew of development works and distribution of benefits under various welfare schemes in KR Pete, Bommai said,2 lift irrigation projects, works to fill 11 irrigation lakes and piped drinking water project under Jal Jeevan Mission at a cost of Rs.420 cr have been taken up in KR Pete.

Cauvery,the lifeline of Mandya and Hemavathi river basins would be further developed.Hemavathi left bank canal works would be taken up and completed at the earliest.

Water would be taken to tail ends of Visvesvaraya canal including Maddur branch canal,Sahukar Chennaiah branch canal,Mysugar factory would be reopened in August and plans would be formulated for setting up a medical college in KR Pete under PPP model,Bommai said.

Financial assistance for 40,000 Sthree Shakthi Groups

The state government is committed for comprehensive development of Mandya district. Vidya Nidhi scholarship scheme has been launched for the benefit of school children from farmers’s families.

About 40,000 Sthree Shakthi Self Help Groups would be provided with financial assistance of Rs1.50 lakh each, Bommai said.
