Chief Minister Chandrababu At the World Renewable Investment Conference
today – Amaravati
CM Chandrababu said that the target is to increase renewable electricity capacity to 72.60 gigawatts by 2030 in Andhra Pradesh. He explained that as part of the AP Integrated Clean Energy (IEC) policy, investments of Rs. 10 lakh crores will be attracted in renewable energy projects in the next five years and 7.5 lakh people will be provided direct and indirect employment opportunities. Chandrababu announced that incentives and concessions will be given to investors in solar, wind and hybrid power projects. He stated that the central government has set a target of 500 gigawatts of renewable electricity in the country by 2030, of which AP will generate the lion’s share. Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the fourth World Renewable Energy Investment Summit in Gandhinagar, Gujarat on Monday. Chandrababu delivered the keynote address in the special conference held afterwards. He said that Andhra Pradesh will be transformed into a clean energy hub and the state will be made to be the most active in the upcoming green energy revolution. He said that there are huge opportunities in renewable energy sector in AP. As a part of ICE-2004, entrepreneurs were called upon to invest in solar, wind and pumped storage power projects. He explained that the state has a suitable environment for setting up industries, skilled human resources, excellent road, rail, air and sea routes. Chandrababu said that a world-class university will be established in the state related to clean energy and circular economy. Their aim is to make every electricity consumer and every farmer an electricity producer in the state.
This is what has been achieved so far.
- So far in Andhra Pradesh 4,335.28 MW solar, 4,083.57 MW Wind, 106 m.w. Small hydropower, 443 MW Biofuel, 36 MW Chandrababu said that there are electricity generation projects from garbage. We have set up solar power parks with a capacity of 4,000 megawatts in Anantapur, Kurnool and Kadapa districts. Another 2,700 MW solar power projects are being set up in Prakasam and Sri Sathyasai districts.
- As part of PM Suryagarh Muft Bijli Yojana, our aim is to install solar power panels on 10 lakh houses in the state by 2026-27. We will develop 26 solar power villages, one per district. By 2025-26, solar panels will be installed on every government building.
- Under the PM Kusum programme, we are setting up mini solar power projects of 3,725 MW capacity by connecting agricultural power feeders. We have installed 31,275 off-grid solar pumpsets. “We will set up pumped storage projects with a capacity of 43.89 gigawatts at 39 places,” he explained.
- Exemption from Stamp Duty and Land Ceiling Act for conversion to non-agricultural lands.
- SGST is refunded on captive resources, manufacturing and sales of products.
- Electricity duty will be exempted on the electricity consumed.
- If the electricity is connected to the grid and consumed at the same voltage level, we will give exemption from distribution and wheeling charges.
- We lease government lands at low rates. We will determine reasonable leases for private lands.
- Wind power and turbine producers will be exempted from distribution and wheeling charges to encourage manufacturing of equipment required for renewable energy projects.
Otherwise we would have taken all the awards!
Chandrababu said that by 2004, united Andhra Pradesh, which had a severe shortage of electricity, was transformed into a state with surplus electricity by 2004. After coming back to power in 2014, solar and wind power projects were promoted in a big way. After that, they were away from power for five years again. Otherwise, he joked that he would have taken away all the awards given in these meetings. K. Vijayanand, Special Principal Secretary of the State Energy Department, received the award from the Union Renewable Energy Resources Minister Prahlad Joshi for solar parks in Anantapur district.
Prime Minister’s greeting to Chandrababu
At the end of the speech, Prime Minister Modi, while greeting the guests on the stage, stopped for a while near Chandrababu. They shook hands with him and greeted him cordially. They both laughed and cuddled for a while.
Meet the needs with renewable electricity: Gottipati
Energy Minister Gottipati Ravikumar said in this conference that the current aim is to provide uninterrupted power based on renewable electricity in AP. For this, along with solar and wind power projects, electricity storage technology will also be used. “We are currently implementing 3.0 reforms in AP. As a part of this, we have mainly focused on the electricity storage system. The aim is to make the state recognized as a storage capital in the country. For this we use large scale battery storage system, pumped hydro storage and other advanced storage technology. With the establishment of rooftop solar and de-centralized micro grids, we will bring power generation closer to the people and increase energy security at the field level.
