Two cops suspended after video of them extorting shopkeepers went viral

An Assistant Sub Inspector and Driver of Hoysala patrolling vehicle attached to Rajagopalnagar

police station have been suspended on the charges of accepting bribe from the roadside vendor,which was caught on camera on Wednesday .

A passers-by noticed their act,confronted them and recorded the video objecting to their behaviour strongly.

As people started gathering the duo sped away in the vehicle.

The video went viral on social media prompting the Deputy Commissioner of Police, North division to order a probe.

The duo had reportedly collected food parcel and water bottle from a roadside hotel while other road side vendors approaching them and reportedly handed over cash.

Reacting to the incident,Saidulu Adavath,said that the duo was suspended based on the report filed by the Jurisdictional Inspector who had conducted probe and submitted a report citing their suspicious behavior.

Following their suspension, ACP Peenya has been asked to conduct a detailed probe and submit a report .

The cops in this case did not have body worn camera and appeared before the Inspector to narrate their version of story .

It may be recalled that City police Commissioner B. Dayananda who brought many changes in the hoysala beat system to improve the respond time to record time of 7 minutes .

He also made it mandatory for the ASI in charge of the Hoysala patrolling vehicle to be armed and have body worn cameras to ensure transperancy.
