The East Division police have detected the Pocso case with in 12 hours and arrested a 24 year old ragpicker Veeresha .
Hours after the report of a 5-year-old allegedly being abducted, sexually assaulted and dumped in a semi-conscious stage near her house, the K.G. Halli police have arrested 24-year-old Veeresha, a ragpicker, with in 12 hours in connection with the case.
Minor Abducted and Raped :
As soon as the incident took place K J George,Bengaluru Development minister with senior officers visited to bowring hospital to see the child condition and after enquiring about her health from the doctors he told media persons that this is a heinous crime.This incident has shamed the society.The kid has suffered injuries to her head.I spoke to few doctors about the victim’s health.The government is providing the best treatment available to the kid.The cops have taken the case seriously and investigation is underway he added .
CCTV Helps cops to nab the Perverter :
A scratch mark on Veerasha’s face gave us a clue that he was the accused involved in the crime alone after interrogating some people staying in the tents in the vicinity senior officer said .
Addl CP East, Hemant Nimbalkar said, A minor girl was kidnapped while she went for a nature call, in the late midnight a unknown person picked her up and took to isolated place and sexually assaulted her and after committing the crime the perverter left the minor girl on the street in semiconcious condition a house owner who heard a sound someone damaging his car he came out and saw the kid lying on the street immediately he informed the police and the near by beat police rushed to the spot and noticed the minor girl lying on street they even noticed a lady was in search of her daughter then he immediately shifted the child to bowring hospital and after examining the doctor got to know the girl has been sexually assaulted based on which a complaint was registered against the unknown person under Pocso Act.Three special teams were formed by DCP East,Ajay Hillori one team was busy in collecting evidence from the crime scene and was analysing CCTV footage from the vicinity of the area another team was busy collecting evidence with technical support and another team was busy in searching the perverter during the course of investigation,our team found that a person who has assaulted the girl has a scratch mark on his face and after enquiring in the area after detailed investigation,with the help of CCTV footage as the entire act was recorded on a CCTV camera installed in the vicinity, which helped us to trace the accused and our team zeroed in on Veeresha, who confessed to the crime and spilled the beans that he is a resident of Veerannapalya, had gone to the area late at night and noticed the girl coming out of the makeshift house, where she was staying with her family, to attend the nature call. Veeresh took the victim to an isolated place and raped her before dumping her in semi-conscious state a few yards from her house and after assaulting the girl he deliberately hit the car window with a stone so that she will be noticed and he even hit the window of a parked car while leaving the scene, which brought a resident out. Noticing the girl lying on the road, the resident alerted the police and our beat police admitted the child to bowring hospital for treatment he added .
Bengaluru Police Commissioner,Praveen Sood told reporters that our East Division police team headed by Addl CP East, Hemant Nimbalkar under the supervision of Ajay Hillori and his team cracked a KG Halli Police station limits Pocso case with in 12 hours in which a five-year-old girl was sexually abused here by a rag-picker on Saturday,adding the accused had been arrested after being identified from CCTV footage and admitted to the crime.The attack came when the girl went out of her shelter to relieve herself.As per her mother, the incident happened around 2 a.m,when the victim came out of the tent,where she stays with her.On a tip-off by a local that a girl was lying near his house, police officers on night beat rushed to the spot and got her admitted in the state-run Bowring Hospital in the city centre for treatment.She had a head injury.The medical officer on duty, however, noticed bleeding from her private parts, too.Coincidentally, when the beat police went to the spot to search for the accused, they found the mother searching for the girl.We are waiting for the victim to recover from her head injury to record her statement and find out if there were more than one offender.Meanwhile, we launched a massive hunt for the accused and zeroes in Veeresh,a ragpicker from a village in Chitradurga district who stays near the victim,after he was spotted in a closed-circuit television camera footage in the area.The accused has been identified as Veeresha,24 year old and was apprehended and arrested during the course of investigation he confessed the crime and said He had taken the girl to an isolated place to commit the crime and escaped afterwards, abandoned the victim on the road.On a complaint by her mother, K G police has registered a case against Veeresh under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act with attempt to murder case, as on Sunday V S Ugarappa with committee members visited the girl and her family at the hospital where she is undergoing treatment as they found the girl suffered head injury so based on their request we have booked Veeresha Durgappa, 24, who was arrested for the rape and attempt to murder, and was sent to judicial custody after being produced before a magistrate.A case has been registered in K G Halli police station and further investigation is on, and finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner, Praveen Sood has appreciated Addl CP East, Hemant Nimbalkar, DCP East, Ajay Hillori,ACP K R Puram Sub Division, Ravikumar,K G Halli inspector,Sirajuddin and the beat police and whole crime staff who has done a tremendous and professional policing which helped them to nab the notorious perverter within 12 hours and a reward has been announced to the whole team he added .
After interacting with the family of the survivor and doctors treating her,V S Ugrappa, chairperson of the committee,told media persons that the culprit hit the girl’s head with a stone in an attempt to kill her and destroy evidence and she is recovering rapidly.A Bowring Hospital official said us that one of her fingers had to be removed completely. Another finger, although severely injured, was recovered. The attack on her head resulted in injuries to her skull and brain. However, they aren’t critical in nature and the government has given Rs 5,000 for the child’s treatment. But our committee has recommended that she be given Rs 25,000 as part of the Nirbhaya scheme.We also recommended a compensation of Rs 1,000 for the girl’s family, as they are facing financial crunch he added .
