ension prevailed for sometime when a team led by NCPCR Chairman,Priyank Kanoongo paid a visit to muslim women orphanage at Ashwath Nagar in Amarjyothi layout for inspection and claimed illegal human trafficking racket in the garb of marrying off the inmates to gulf countries.

Mr.Kanoongo later speaking to the media said “It is an illegal orphanage in Ashwath Nagar, Amarjyoti layout, Bengaluru.

We were inquiring about an illegal orphanage which was running there.

20 girl-child were kept, some of them were orphans, and semi-orphans; we don’t know the precise number as they did not allow us to complete our inquiry.

We spoke to children, our female councillors interacted with the girl children.During the interaction, one girl-child informed us that the supreme candidate of the illegal orphanage ‘rishta lagwati hai Kuwait main.’

We saw there that children were being groomed to get married in the Gulf countries, so its apprehension that there may be a nexus of traffickers, who are sending girl children to Gulf countries in disguise for marriage.

Tension prevailed some time when members of orphanage along with few local residents gathered and objected to the inspection by male members without prior notice.

The team had a heated argument when they claimed they had required permission and jurisdictional police who had accompanied the inspection team , intervened and escorted them to station .

Mr.kanoongo accused that the police are not taking action despite illegal activities going on,while police said that they will initiate probe if the complaint is filed said a senior officer.
