Close to the heel of city police busting inter city sex illegal abortion racket in November this year,the alert health officials busted another illegal abortion racket run at a private hospital in the outskirts of the city during a routine inspection at SPG hospital and Diagnostic centre in Anugondanahalli on Wednesday .
Following instruction from the health department,the officials carried random inspections at private hospital and found Ultra scanning machine at the hospital operating illegally.
The health officials alerted the district health officials and based on the directions went to seize the machine .
To their shock they officials found a fresh female foetus in dustbin and questioning the staff.
Inquiries revealed that the hospital belonged to Dr. Srinivas who is on the running the racket with the help of seven staff including a lab technician,two nurses and house keeping staff.
Based on the complaint,the police have taken up case under Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act,and efforts are on to track down the doctor who is on the run.
We have detained the staff for questioning and legal action will be initiated based on their role in the racket, Superintendent of police,Mallikarjun Baldandi, said .
