In a momentous gathering commemorating the TV 200th anniversary of Assam tea, His Excellency Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, Governor of Assam, made significant commitments to the well-being of tea workers at the Tea Workers Conclave held at Shrimanta Shankadeva Kalakhetra, Guwahati.


Governor Kataria pledged to take up the pressing issue of land rights and house pattas for tea workers, considering it a lifetime achievement. He expressed his intent to advocate for these issues with both the Prime Minister and Chief Minister of Assam, emphasizing the importance of securing a brighter future for the hardworking tea laborers. “I am delighted to have attended the Tea Workers Conclave, organized in Guwahati today. Assam’s tea industry boasts a splendid two – century history, with our tireless tea workers at its core. Their steadfast commitment has not only elevated Assam but also positioned India as the world’s second largest tea producer and exporter. It’s our duty to uplift the life of tea workers in the state,” stated the Governor Shri Gulab Chand Kataria Government of Assam.
