he VV puram police busted an inter state drug racket and arrested a 28-year-peddler from Rajasthan who was smuggling poppy pods to city and grinds them in a mixer to prepare a concentration and sell it to his customers,who are college students and IT professionals .
The accused has been identified as,Bulbul Singh a resident of Rajasthan.
Senior officer told reporters,The accused was popular for his “magic potion“and was in high demand from his customers who wanted to organize parties and get together .
Since the poppy pod concentrated liquid is being mixed in a soft drink like Rasna and tang,no one used to suspect that it is the drug which is being consumed,a police officer,said .
The accused identified as Bulbul,owned a cloth shop in Rajasthan and incurred huge loss during covid.He had come to Bengaluru to do odd jobs and along the lines using his expertise started drug peddling business.
Based on a tip off,a team of police led by Mirza Ali Raza,raided his house in VV Puram and arrested the accused along with the 55 kilos of poppy pods worth Rs.60 lakh, from him.
The police also seized a goods autorickshaw which the accused was using to get the consignment from private courier office or from the railway station.
Since the pods are in dry form,no one was suspecting and the accused once getting the consignments used to grind them in mixer based on the order from his customers .
Bulbul Singh according to his neighbors, used to grind the mixie almost everyday like he was grinding coffee beans .
After getting the powder format,Bulbul would soak in it water and keep it under controlled temperature for fermentation for few days until he would get the concentrate form as the final step.
The concentrate Bulbul would filter and store in bottle and sell it in MLs for higher prices depending upon the situation and clients .
DCP south,P Krishnakant,said that this is one of the novel form of drug peddling,they have come across and lauded the police team for cracking the case .
The police have booked the accused under NDPS case and investigating further to trace the source of supply.
