A couple who were caught riding without helmet and having pending fines, created ruckus accusing harassment from Jayanagar traffic policemen, but the body worn cameras exposed their baseless allegation and saved the police from inquiry .

The incident occurred two days ago when the couple identified as Mallesh and Mangala riding bike without helmet were confronted by police.

The couple started to throw tantrums citing medical emergency to excuse themselves after police found a total of Rs.5,000 fine pending for various violations.

The police told them to pay some amount of fine to take their vehicle but the couple insisted that they should be allowed to go .

The couple soon called the media and started making accusation that the police harassed them despite requesting them .

The couple alleged that because of the harassment the BP of the woman pillion rider fluctuated and she collapsed on the road.

Soon,Rajesh, son of the couple who got to know about the incident, raised the complaint on the city police social media account tagging senior police officer and demanded strict action .

DCP, Traffic,West division,Kuldeep Kumar R Jain, ordered a probe directing the Jayanagar traffic police to investigate.

The Jayanagar traffic police called Rajesh and recorded his statement and summoned the ASI,Shivaswamy and his colleague who have been accused of the harassment.

We checked their body worn cameras to find all the allegation made by the couple were baseless .

The police contacted the couple and even asked them to get the medical records to ascertain whether the BP and diabetes level fluctuated, but they took time and submitted the report which were recorded two days later.

Since the case was false alarm and false reporting of the incident to dent the image of the traffic police. The police are now contemplating taking action against the couple.

Reacting to the incident.Mr. Jain said The body cameras worn by the traffic police are always ON to ensure transparency”.
