Two posing as passengers robbed Taxi driver at knife point

The Madanayakanahalli police are on the lookout for two men who posing as passengers robbed a taxi driver at knife point and escaped with cash , mobile phone and taxi in the wee hours of Wednesday.

The duo approached taxi driver Srinivasa D,while he was resting outside Yeshwanthpur railway station at around 2.15 am .

The duo asked him for the drop at Anchepalya and offered to pay. Srinivas agreed to drop them at Rs. 400 and the duo boarded the taxi.

When the taxi reached BICC road in the outskirt of the city, one of them seated backseat asked Srinivasa to stop.

As soon as he stopped the taxi,he pulled out a rope and tried to strangulate him.Srinivasa managed to get out of the seat but the other one confronted and pinned him down before snatching cash Rs.18,000 an mobile phone .

Before they could harm,Srinivasa managed to escape from their clutches and ran away while the duo started the taxi and sped away.

The total value of the robbed items estimated to be around Rs.5 lakh, the victim said in his complaint.
