BBMP is set to restart the ‘Onti Mane’ scheme to provide house construction financial assistance for the poor and the backward communities.
A formal order in this regard would be issued soon,Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said.
The Chief Minister was speaking after inspecting the K-100 Waterway project and inaugurating the rejuvenated Byrasandra Lake, a multi=storied housing complex and laying the foundation stone for a multi-storied parking complex in Chickpet constituency.
The ‘Onti Mane'(single house or individual house) scheme was stalled during the Covid pandemic and it would be restarted. Those who have their own piece of land or site would get financial assistance under the scheme for home construction. The number of houses for each ward would be fixed, Bommai said.
More projects would be launched to make Bengaluru a truly international city in terms of its infrastructure.
Projects have been formulated to upgrade 20 government schools, health facilities and beautification of Bengaluru,Bommai said.
Referring to the K-100,a public water pathway created along the major storm water drains(Rajakaluves) after treating the drain water in Chickpet constituency,Bommai said,about 9 km of the 23-24 km path along the drains has been inaugurated and the remaining stretch too would be completed soon.
Schemes like this would help in making Bengaluru more beautiful. Former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa had formulated the ‘Bengaluru Mission’ project. “We will get it inaugurated by BS Yediyurappa.”
Action to ease traffic congestion
Work on a multi-storied parking complex has been launched in Gandhi Bazaar and a multi-storied housing complex has been inaugurated.
Bengaluru is growing at a rapid pace. Many projects have been drawn up for planned growth of the city, Bommai said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to lay the foundation stone for Rs.15,000 cr Suburban Rail project and Peripheral Ring Road projects.
It would be possible to ease the traffic congestion of Bengaluru after completion of these projects.
About Rs.8000 cr has been granted in the state budget for Bengaluru development, Bommai said.
Akrama-Sakrama
Legal initiatives have been taken to implement the Akrama-Sakrama scheme in revenue layouts of Bengaluru city.
Necessary documents have been submitted to the Supreme Court.Once the legal issues are resolved,these revenue pockets would be regularised and comprehensive development works would be taken up, Bommai said.
