Minor girl Sexually assaulted,accused arrested by Sanjaynagar police,locals pro-kannada activists holds protest against sexual assault

Tension gripped in front of Sanjay nagar police station as over 1000 residents lay siege to the station demanding police to hand over the accused of minor girl sexual assault case to them.

The accused aged about 25 year old was arrested for sexually assaulting a five year old girl on Sunday evening.

The residents of the area started protesting against the accused seeking justice from the police and demanded them to hand him over to them.

The accused, a native of West Bengal is a neighbour of the girl and works as a labourer.

On Sunday,the accused allegedly took the girl to his house under the pretext of playing animated videos on Youtube.

Police said that he sexually assaulted her inside his house and after the girl returned home,her parents found assault marks on her body and alerted the police.The Sanjaynagar police who rushed to the spot secured the accused.

As tension gripped more DCP North,Dharmender Kumar Meena along with additional force as KSRP platoons deployed with neighbouring station police inspectors and ACPs rushed to spot and cordoned the area by barricading it.

Meena said that the offender is secured and in police custody.As per family there is no sign of penetrative sexual assault (Rape).More details will be known when the girl is taken for medical examination,” he said.

Following the incident,people started to gather outside the station and the MLA Bhairati Suresh visited the spot to pacify them.

A woman protestors collapsed due to exhaustion during the protest.She was later taken to a near by hospital.

Many woman resident alleged police inaction whenever they complaint about eve teasing by drug addicts and other law and problem.

Police come to the spot with siren and the eve teasers escape.They should have been more strict failing in their duties,which such incidents occured.

Pro-Kannada organization members accused that sexual assault on girl children in the state are in the rise.Mysore,Dandeli and today this. Until police take strict action to ensure such incidents should not repeat.

We are worried to leave our children at home alone.police and administration should ensure safety of girl children,another protestors said.

Finally the police managed to disperse the crowd. The accused was arrested and subjected him for medical examination and even the victim is under observation.

Based on the outcome of medical report,action will be taken,Dharmendera Kumar Meena,DCP, north division, said.
