Three Bcom students of reputed college arrested by Nandini layout police for attempting to rob gold chain from elderly woman

The North Division police of Nandini layout police on Thursday arrested two students including a girl of a reputed college for attempting to rob a gold chain from an elderly woman in Nandini Layout to repay their debts .

Senior officer told reporters a elderly woman a victim who was on her routine walking near the park while passing she noticed a boy and girl parked their two wheeler and were talking each other.

As she passed the duo the girl followed her and threw chilli powder on her face and eyes and tried to snatch her chain.

Gayathri didn’t give up despite her eyes and face was burning,she held the chain tightly making it difficult for the girl to snatch the chain.

Meanwhile a biker was heading towards the spot, the girl left Gayathri and escaped in the scooter in which her male friend was waiting.

Gayathri then went home,washed herself and lodged a complaint with Nandini Layout police with the help of her family members.

The Nandini layout police inspector and his team swung into action and visited the crime scene and after analysing the CCTV footage and with the bike number the team with the other technology zeroed in on bike rider.

After securing the bike rider the team grilled who confessed to the crime and revealed two of his friends who were part of the crime and based on their statement the team zeroed in on other two including a girl.

During investigation all the trio confessed to the crime and revealed that As per the plan the targetted,Gayathri KT,65,a resident of 25th Main Road,BHEL Officers Colony,Nandini Layout,while she was returning home from morning walk from a near by BHEL layout park.

The duo confessed to police that they invested money in a trading application expecting quick returns,but they lost money.

They took loans from loan applications and friends.They paid the loan for the applications and were due some money.

The hand loan taken from the friends was also due to pay.The duo then searched how to make money quickly on the internet.

One of the options they found was to commit the chain snatching.So the duo gave it a try,but their luck ran out in the first attempt.

The accused in their 20s and they are classmates pursuing BCom final year in a reputed college in Bengaluru North.

A detailed investigation by the team revealed the accused had invested Rs.15,000 on online trading app and lost the money.

They borrowed the loan to repay the money invested and had a short of Rs.5,000 to arrange the fund.In order to arrange the fund the duo decided to snatch the chain to get the money.

A case under the IPC section 393 (attempt robbery) has been registered and further investigation is on.

Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,C H Pratap Reddy has appreciated Addl CP West, Sandeep Patil,DCP North,Vinayak Patil,ACP,KS Venkatesh Naidu,PI,Venkategowda and his whole team for the meticulous investigation done by them in nabbing the trio a suitable reward will be given to whole team he added.
