Afternoon Voice announces ‘Free Virtual Internship and Training’ for aspiring journalists

Mumbai’s English daily Afternoon Voice announces a ‘Free Internship and Training’ program for aspiring journalists. In light of the pandemic situation, the reality is that many candidates cannot afford paid training to gain valuable experience, hence Afternoon Voice has come up with a free online training module for the students.

First-year MBA students can also take up free internships and training due to economic uncertainty following the pandemic situation. Interns may or may not be paid a stipend as the program is free for all. At a time of soaring unemployment and few prospects for new entrants can be created in Afternoon Voice.

The internship includes mentorship with senior journalists, opportunities for taking interviews, practice of news assignments, weekly interactive sessions with seniors and an overall news desk experience.

Vaidehi Taman, Editor-in-Chief of Afternoon Voice said, “This is the 12th Anniversary of Afternoon Voice, all these years of our journey and we have trained many journalists who are working in reputed mainstream media today. Students come for internships to gain valuable experience. It prepares them to take up a leap in career, after which they may go on to jobs in the private sector or elsewhere. It will give them multiple options.”

“Afternoon Voice’s Internship and Training program is an important source of leadership talent and the interns would be groomed to fight against the odds in the fourth estate and adhere to ethical reporting. Interns are provided with a virtual curriculum and the program is spread over 4-6 weeks,” Vaidehi Taman further added.
