Priest arrested for sexually abusing minor girl in Bengaluru:

The City police have arrested a 62 year old priest for sexually assaulting a minor girl after luring her with snacks to get inside the house on Tuesday evening.

The accused has been identified as,Venkataramanappa,resident of Chikkabalkapura.Who had come to his daughter’s house.

According to the police Venkataranamannappa son in law is priest in the temple who had to go to out of station with family.

He had asked the accused to come to perform the daily rituals at the temple till he returns.

On Tuesday evening Venkataramanappa who stayed in the house adjacent to the temple, noticed the victim playing outside the house near to his house.

He lured the girl promising snacks and sexually assaulted her.Meanwhile the mother of the victim noticed her daughter missing and went in search.

A flower vendor told the mother that she had seen the girl going into the priest house.

The mother along with others rushed to find the girl crying outside the house.

The victim narrated the ordeal following which the people who gathered by then inform the police.

The police rushed to the spot and detained the accused.

Senior officer told media persons,that the girl narrated the incident and a crowd gathered soon after.Police were informed and the girl along with her parents were taken to the local government hospital for medical tests.

Police nabbed Venkataramanappa on the basis of CCTV footage and the statement of the flower vendor. He has been booked for rape under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act. Police claim he has confessed and the accused has been remanded to judicial custody he added
