One Bawaria gangs notorious chain snatcher Ram Singh was shot at Somashetty halli in Soladevanahalli police station limit by PSI Somashekhar when he attempted to attack combing police team.
Notorious chain snatcher nabbed by North Zone police after a dramatic chase and shootout on Tuesday midnight near Somashetty halli in north Bangalore. The accused sustained a bullet injury and a police constable was stabbed in the incident.
A member of the notorious Bawaria gang, which has committed scores of chain snatching in the city, was shot at and nabbed by the police in Soladevanahalli on Tuesday midnight.
The accused Ram Singh had managed to escape from the police on Tuesday afternoon, after trying to attack a policeman who stopped his bike.
The accused has been identified as,Ram Singh alias Sumair alias Homi (35), a native of Shamli district in Uttar Pradesh, has sustained injuries in the incident.
Senior Officer, told reporters,There was information that the offenders used a pulsar bike bearing a Punjab registration number to commit the crime.Our control room immediately alerted the police across the city with the vehicle number and description of the offenders. Constables Biradar and Imam Saab Karikatti,both attached to Soladevanahalli station,were checking the bikes at Lakshmipura Cross.Around 12.30pm,they noticed a pulsar bike bearing Punjab registration number being ridden by two men whose features matched the description given by the control room.As the constables tried to stop the bike,the suspects tried to knock the costable.The constables, however, managed to escape and tried to nab the suspects.The suspects then tried to attack the policemen with a knife and when the policemen resisted, they left the bike and ran away into a eucalyptus grove and escaped.immediately ACP formed special teams to nab the suspects and the teams started combing the area and were searching for them in forest areas.Around 11.50pm,a team found one of the suspects in the forest region at Kereguddadahalli in Somashettihalli.As the policemen asked him to surrender, he pulled a knife and tried to attack the policemen. In self defense, sub inspector of Nandini Layout police station Somashekhar fired one round at the suspect leaving him injured in his right leg. He and our constable was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital he added.
DCP North Zone, Chethan Singh Rathore, told media persons that,A series of chain snatching incident was reported in Chikkajala,Bagalur and Yelahanka were in one such incident we found his vehicle number in which they are striking, so we flashed a wireless message and alerted
About the bike and offenders across city and all the cops of North Zone were on high alert. While conducting vehicle check under soladevanahalli police station limits by the cops they noticed punjab registration number pulsar 220 bike and when the cops flagged them to stop they dint stop the bike and even tried to run over on our constables but our constable had a great escape and they even chased the bike and in the meanwhile the culprit jumped from the bike and went into a eucalyptus grove near soladevanahalli immediately the cops alerted the senior officials that suspects are hiding in eucalyptus grove and immediately a special team headed by ACP, Raviprasad,with inspectors and staff swung into action and rushed to spot and the team began combing the area.When Nandini Layout Sub-Inspector Somashekhar spotted him, Singh allegedly attacked a constable with a knife.In retaliation, Sub Inspector Somashekhar of Nandini layout in self defense opened fire at his right leg and he suffered bullet injury.Ram Singh and the injured constable are being treated in a private hospital. Preliminary investigations revealed that Ram Singh is a notorious chain snatcher and a gang member of Bawaria gang member, His Modus operandi, He would target elderly women.We have CCTV footage of him robbing women in Bagaluru, Yelahanka and Chikkajala,and we have recovered a gold chain and a knife from him and we are on the lookout for his associate.A case of attempt to murder was registered against them in Soladevanahalli station in this connection and the pulsar bike was seized and further investigation is on and finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,T Suneel Kumar, Addl CP West, B K Singh,has appreciated, DCP,North Zone,Chethan Singh Rathore, ACP, Yeshwanthpur Sub Division,P Raviprasad,and his team as,PIs as,Lohith,Kantharaju,Ramappa B Gutter,PSI as,Somashekhar,and staff as,Biradar and Imam Saab Karikatti, both attached to Soladevanahalli station has done a tremendous job and nabbed Bawaria gang member who were on prowl snatching chains in the city and a suitable award will be given to the team for their brave act he added.
