Three members of a family,including two children,were killed after being run over by an express train near the railway track between Doddaballapur and Muttur on Monday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Irfana,46,and her daughters Rukiya,13,and Rakiya,8.
According to the preliminary information,the three had come to their grandmother’s house from Hindupur for the holidays.After the vacation,they were returning home when the tragedy occurred.
The family was reportedly walking towards Doddaballapur railway station from Muttur when they entered the railway track.
Two railway tracks meet at a curve at the spot,and the three allegedly failed to notice the approaching express train.The train,travelling at high speed,ran over them, killing all three on the spot.
The impact was so severe that the bodies were badly mutilated.
Railway police visited the spot and conducted an inspection.
A case has been registered at the Yeshwanthpur Railway Police Station,and further investigation is underway.
