A Counterfeit currency printing racket was busted in Bengaluru South district, with the arrest of seven people and seizure of materials used to make fake notes,police said on Tuesday.
The accused were identified as Santosh (35),Satish (36), Sampath (33),Rajesh (34),Renukaraj (31), Shivaraj (42) and Govindaraj (50), they said.
The arrests were made on August 31 after information was received that counterfeit currency notes were being printed at a newly constructed house,within the limits of Aijur Police Station in Ramanagara Town,police said.
Following the tip off,police raided the place and took seven accused persons into custody.
Police have seized paper bundles related to counterfeit notes worth approximately Rs 5 lakh that were still in the printing stage, along with chemical substances allegedly being used for producing the fake currency, a senior police officer said.
A case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Aijur police station,police said,adding that further investigation is underway.
