Rajajinagar MLA S.Suresh Kumar has urged the police to take action against the repeated bursting of firecrackers in residential areas of his constituency late at night, stating that the practice is causing inconvenience to residents.

In a letter to the Deputy Commissioner of Police,West Divisions,Mr.Suresh Kumar said firecrackers were being burst regularly in the jurisdiction of two police stations in his constituency, particularly after 9 pm,causing disturbance to residents.

He said bursting crackers during New Year celebrations, Eid and other religious or national festivals could be understood as part of celebrations.

However, the daily bursting of firecrackers late at night was causing considerable inconvenience to residents and should not be allowed.

The MLA said he had already brought the issue to the attention of the police on several occasions.

He specifically mentioned that he had conveyed his displeasure through WhatsApp to the police authorities thrice before, but the problem continued.

He urged the police to issue necessary directions to the concerned station house officers and take action against those repeatedly violating the restrictions on the use of fire crackers.
