H Guru of Mandya, Karnataka was married just 6 months ago. The CRPF soldier lost his life yesterday in PulwamaTerrorAttack perpetrated by Pakistan. On Feb 10 he had returned to duty. His young wife is inconsolable.
Residents of Mandya expressed their anger against actor cum politician Ramya for not attending the cremation of Martyr H Guru.
Infosys foundation will give 10 lakh each to the families of martyrs who laid down their life in line of duty in the terrorist attack at Pulwama in Jammu & Kashmir on Friday.Foundation chairperson Sudha Murty told media persons that the society is indebted to their sacrifice in defence of the nation.
The mortal remains of CRPF jawan H. Guru who was killed in suicide bomber attack at Pulwama in Jammu & Kashmir on Thursday was consigned to flames with full State honours at his native place Gudigere Colony at Maddur, near here at 8.45 pm yesterday.
The CRPF’s Brave constable Guru H,who was martyred in the Pulwama attack, was cremated in Karnataka on Saturday evening. Thousands of people gathered and tears in the eyes of people when they gave their last farewell. At the same time, the martyr’s wife gave a last salute to husband after wearing a bangle in front of her head and dumped her on the forehead. On this occasion, the officers of the local administration who were present there also became emotional.

Constable Guru Hooda, living in Mandya, was martyred in a terror attack in Lathipora area of Pulwama on February 14th. He was involved in the same convoy of CRPA coming from Jammu to Srinagar , on which the terrorists attacked the suicide.
Martyr H Guru, Wife said that my husband had a aim of serving for the country for more 10 years but now he is not there so I want to join the Army and kill those terrorists who killed my husband she added.
After the martyrdom,Constable Guru H was paid tribute to his colleagues on Friday in Srinagar and then in Delhi.After this his body was sent to Karnataka.
Later, the body was taken to his native place by road and thousands of people paid their last respects by throwing flowers and garlands on the body en-route.
After this, his funeral was done by his home town Mandya. During this, when the wife of the Constable’s wife greeted him last, the eyes of all the people present there became dull.
The last rites of a CRPF trooper from Karnataka, killed in the Pulwama attack, were held on Saturday at his native village in Mandya district with full honours as thousands bid tearful adieu.
Earlier, the District Administration had made arrangements for the public to pay their last respects to the departed soul. The body which, arrived at HAL Airport in Bengaluru earlier in the day was received by Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and Union Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda.
Kumaraswamy, Sadananda Gowda, Deputy Chief Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara, former External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna, District Minister C.S. Puttaraju, Tourism Minister S.R. Mahesh, Transport Minister D.C. Thammanna, KPCC President Dinesh Gundu Rao, officials and villagers attended the last rites.
MPs as, Shobha Karandlaje and Pratap Simha placed wreaths on the casket of the soldier.Kumaraswamy also presented a Tricolour to the wife Kalavathi and gave away a relief cheque of `25 lakh. He also assured the family of all help from the government.

H.Guru’s body, brought in an Indian Air Force AN-32 transport aircraft from Delhi, landed at the HAL airport and was driven in a flower-bedecked military truck to Gudigere village in Mandya, about 100km from here.
Guru, 33, was among the 49 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) troopers who died on Thursday in Kashmir’s Pulwama district in a terror attack on a bus in which they were travelling in a convoy to Srinagar from Jammu.
Thousands of people gathered en route from Bengaluru to Mandya as the military vehicle passed.
Guru’s mortal remains were first taken to his residence in the village and later shifted to an open ground on the outskirts for cremation, which was delayed by over two hours.
Family members, including his widow Kalavathi, father Honnaiah, mother Chikka Thayamma, and younger brothers Madhu and Anand broke down at the sight of the body.
Union Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda, Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara, senior BJP leader S.M. Krishna, MP Shobha Karandlaje, state Ministers and CRPF officials paid their tributes to Guru and laid wreaths on his body.
After a gun salute by the state police as a mark of respect and playing of National Anthem and sounding of bugles, Guru’s younger brother Madhu lit the funeral pyre amid chants of ‘Bharat Mata ki jai’.
People from across the district thronged to the village for the state funeral.
Guru belonged to the 82nd Battalion of the CRPF and was posted in Srinagar.
The Chief Minister has assured the bereaved family of providing a government job to Kalavathi and compensation of Rs 25 lakh for his supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation.
Working hard, Guru along with his brothers had helped the family build a new house and conducted the house-warming ceremony a year ago.
According to his relatives, Guru was at home last week on leave and left for Kashmir on February 11.
Guru had joined the CRPF in 2011.
Soldier Guru had plans of taking voluntary retirement from service and settling down at his native village. Eldest son of Honnaiah and Chikkolamma couple, who run a laundry shop, Guru joined CRPF in 2011. He had married Kalavathi just 10 months ago.
Chanting patriotic slogans, people from all walks of life waited along the road to pay their tributes. As the Army vehicle carrying the mortal remains of the martyr passed through the Bengaluru roads with hundreds of youths accompanying the vehicle on two-wheelers.
In Mandya, thousands of people from across the district thronged Gudigere to pay their last respects. The vehicle carrying Guru’s mortal remains was delayed by over two hours as people were lined up all through the way.
The cries of family members, relatives, neighbours and friends filled the air as the body arrived. People lined up on the Bengaluru-Mysuru Highway to pay last respects, as the body reached Nidaghatta, on the Maddur-Channapattana border.
His wife Kalavathi, inconsolable since Thursday, gave him a final salute before collapsing. Later, after the State honours, the Tricolour wrapped around Guru was handed over to a sobbing Kalavathi by a tearful CM who assured her all help.
He also handed over a cheque for Rs. 25 lakh to her and assured family members of jobs.
As government land was not available in his village Gudigere for the last rites, the Mandya district administration following a request by Guru’s family zeroed in on Mellahalli,1.5km from his hometown.
Madivala Gurupeetha Seer Basava Machideva Swamiji from Chitradurga, Bhovi Gurupeetha Seer Immadi Siddarameshwara Swami from Bagalkot, Seers Basava Haralaiah Swamiji and Shivalinga Shivacharaya Swamiji conducted the rituals and recited the Vachanas of Basavanna.
The last rites were held as per Madivala customs and traditions. Guru’s younger brothers Anand and Madhu lit the pyre. CRPF personnel and KSRP personnel fired three rounds in the air as a mark of respect.
Guru’s father-in-law Shivanna and mother-in-law Jayamma, who fell ill after the final rites, are undergoing treatment at a hospital.
Sumalatha offers land to family.
Actor Sumalatha, wife of former Minister M.H. Ambarish, said she will donate half an acre of land to Guru’s family. The family can use the land at Doddarasinakere either to build a memorial in honour of the martyred soldier or for agriculture purpose, she said.
Sumalatha said that she will visit the family as soon as she comes back to India from Malaysia where shooting of her son Abhishek’s movie is going on.
Holding massive demonstrations against Pakistan and urging the Centre to take retaliatory action against Pakistan, thousands of traders from Chickpet area on continued their peaceful demonstrations. The area, home to more than 50,000 wholesale and retail traders voluntarily lowered shutters as a mark of respect.
Schools closed in KM Doddi.
A holiday was declared for all schools and colleges in KM Doddi and surrounding villages in the wake of the final rites of the martyred soldier.
A bandh was observed in KM Doddi and other villages. All the business establishments were shut down. In Maddur and Mandya also, several shops remained closed.
LIC’s gesture
The LIC authorities transferred the death benefits to the nominee of Guru without the family producing any documents.
The LIC authorities handed over a cheque of Rs. 3 lakh to the family.

40 soldiers killed in Pulwama attack :
On Saturday, February 14th, near Ashtipora’s peregrination, they sat ambushing at about 3 o’clock. A CRPF jawan passing through the highway in this area entered a convoy of a bus carrying a terrorist vehicle carrying the explosives. The blast was so gruesome that a whole bus was blown up. 40 CRPF personnel died in this incident.
