A 20-year-old college student has lodged a complaint with the Ashoknagar police alleging that her apartment owner sexually harassed her while she was alone at her apartment on Saturday .
According to the complaint,the student has been living for around 2.5 months at an apartment on Burley Street, Shantinagar,and is pursuing her third year of (B.Voc in Digital Media and Animation)at a private college.(St Joseph’s University) .
The complainant alleged that the apartment owner, identified as Kamalesh Kumar,visited her residence around 6.25 pm on August 15 to inspect pending repair work.She was reportedly alone at the apartment at the time.
After inspecting the repair work,Kumar allegedly began asking her about her college.The victim alleged that he then held her hand and tried to look at her mehendi.
When she attempted to pull her hand away,he allegedly pulled her towards him and molested her.
She further alleged that despite her attempts to move away,Kumar continued to sexually harass told her not to worry or be afraid.
The victim further said that the accused told her that she should inform him when she had 10–15 minutes free, adding that he liked her and wanted to be around her.
The Ashok Nagar police have registered an FIR against Kamlesh Kumar charging section 74 ( Using assault or criminal force on a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty) and 75(2) of (sexual harassment ) of BNS for further investigation.
